Tara Green Appointed President of Klyde Warren Park

by Jerome Weeks 2 May 2013 11:48 AM

She has a strong background in helping run major sports venues and events. So … just how much are they planning to do with that new ice rink that’s going in?

CTA TBD

Helping run major sports / entertainment venues and events is the background Tara Green brings to Klyde Warren Park. She replaces Mark Banta, who resigned as president in January. Green was the revenue officer for American Airlines Center, COO for the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and before all that, spent 11 years as vice president of sports marketing with the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Hmmmm. OK. So they must be expecting to get a lot out of that ice rink that’s going to be squeezed into a very popular, already-crowded, five-acre freeway deck.

In any event, here’s the release:

(May 2, 2013)— Tara Green will serve as the new president of Klyde Warren Park, the five-acre deck park and free outdoor destination in the center of Dallas. Green recently served as chief revenue officer for American Airlines Center and vice president and chief operating officer of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.

“We are so pleased to welcome Tara. She knows Dallas and sees the tremendous opportunities to make sure Klyde Warren Park continues to evolve as a special place for people to enjoy our great city,” said Jody Grant, chairman of the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation Board. “Her sports and entertainment background will give her the unique perspective to operate the Park as a premier venue that is free to the public.”

When Green begins as president in mid-June, she will build upon the early success of Klyde Warren Park’s grand opening year. Her new role will include leading the Park’s daily programming, overseeing ongoing construction of the restaurant, securing sustainable revenue to support the Park, and building partnerships with the business community.

“I have enjoyed watching the Park come to life over the years and look forward to joining the incredible and hard-working team that has made its first year a success,” said Green. “I have spent the majority of my professional career selling Dallas as a destination and am thrilled to represent our city’s’ most unique attraction and help showcase it to residents and visitors alike.”

Green has lived in the Dallas area for 22 years, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and is a mother of two. Prior to her role with the Super Bowl, Green spent 11 years as vice president of sports marketing with the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is active in the community as a board member of the Downtown Dallas Association, the Heart of Dallas Bowl and the PwC SMU Athletic Forum, and past chairman of the National Association of Sports Commission.
