Thursday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 28 Feb 2013 8:00 AM

Today in the roundup: How dancers learn the moves, local music bits and a comedian returns to the stage.

CTA TBD

GETTING IT RIGHT: Texas Ballet Theater continues its season this weekend at Bass Hall with performances of Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries and Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena. If you’re not an expert in dance, you might wonder how these complex movements remain true to the choreographer’s intent. The answer is: repetitors. Essentially, they’re people who become experts in a particular choreographer’s work and then travel the world making sure dance companies get it right. The story of the two repetitors in town working with TBT is on dfw.com.

LOCAL MUSIC BITS: Klearlight Studio, the Mesquite recording studio that’s hosted everyone from St. Vincent to Erykah Badu, is featured on an episode of A&E’s Storage Wars. (dfw.com) … Fort Worth singer-songwriter D. Anson Brody is on quite the creative run. So he’s releasing a new song every week. (fwweekly.com) … A.Dd+ and Ishi will serve as the opening acts for Snoop Dogg at this year’s Dallas Observer St. Patrick’s Day Concert on Greenville Avenue. (DC9 at Night)

QUOTABLE: “I love the simplicity of getting laughs. Stand-up is immediate.”

– Paul Reiser, on his return to his first love, in an interview with dallasnews.com. The star of Mad About You plays Hyena’s at Mockingbird Station on Friday.
