BACK TO BERNINI: On Sunday, the Kimbell Art Museum will open “Bernini: Sculpting in Clay.” The exhibition will include 15 terracottas by Bernini from the Harvard Art Museums, as well as drawings and models. The show originated at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where it was reviewed by The New York Times. And if you really want to study up on all things Bernini, check out Bernini: His Life and His Rome, an expansive biography published in 2011. Or you can just read the Atlantic review. The Art&Seek crew will be attending the press preview of “Bernini: Sculpting in Clay” on Thursday; we’ll report once we’ve seen it with our own eyes.
UP NEXT AT LYRIC: Lyric Stage’s resurrection of the lost musical Pleasures and Palaces has had reviewers buzzing since its debut Thursday. (Jerome weighed in and rounded up the others.) And to capitalize on all the attention, the company announced the shows it will be performing in its 2013-14 season. Most noteworthy is the world premiere of the musical Blue Roses, inspired by Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie.
ARTOPIA IN REVIEW: On Saturday, the Dallas Observer hosted its annual Artopia event at the Dallas Contemporary. Didn’t make it? The highlights from the runway and the crowd are preserved in a slideshow.
