Friday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 18 Jan 2013 8:01 AM

Today in the roundup: The Perot’s first late night, a preview of spring art shows and words with Joel Hodgson.

CTA TBD

LATE NIGHTS: The first late-night event at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is tonight. And unless you’ve already got a ticket, you’re not going. But if you do have a ticket, it looks like you’re in for a big night – the UTD robotic chess team, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Ishi will all be on hand. Don’t have a ticket? Maybe I’ll see you at the DMA’s Late Night. Or you can go ahead and book your ticket for the next Perot late night on April 5.

UP NEXT: The writers over at glasstire.com have come up with their 2013 Spring Preview of art shows across the state. So what are they looking forward to in our area? Shows at Marty Walker Gallery, 500x, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Reading Room, Kirk Hopper Fine Art and the MAC all made the list.

QUOTABLE: “I guess one of my favorite movies is A Thousand Clowns, and the worst I ever saw was Manos: The Hands of FateA Thousand Clowns, I think I saw it when I was in fourth grade, and it was just so witty and brilliant and I just loved it and I still love it. And Manos: The Hands of Fate is now known as the worst movie ever made, which was a MST3K episode we did.”

Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson, in an interview with Front Row ahead of his appearance at the Texas Theatre on Saturday.
