My strategic advice for tonight’s Lone Star Film Festival attendance – camp out in AMC Palace 2 and don’t leave. Even if you have to hide under your seat as the movies change out. That’s because at 7 p.m., Hyde Park on Hudson (a.k.a. – the movie in which Bill Murray plays FDR) shows. And immediately after that is Silver Linings Playbook (a.k.a. – the movie that stands a good chance of landing Jennifer Lawrence her first Oscar).
If you find yourself left out of theater 2, No. 4 is a nice consolation prize. Get there by 8:30 for America’s Parking Lot. The documentary looks into how the creation of Cowboys Stadium affected the loyal fanbase that called Texas Stadium home. It debuted at SXSW, and if you’re a listener of The Big Screen Podcast (you are, aren’t you?) then you’ll recall our interview with America’s Parking Lot director Jonny Mars, who was quite entertaining. I also did a story on the film back in April. Clearly my ears perked up when I heard “Cowboys documentary.”
