Programming is a little light on night two of the Lone Star Film Festival. That’s because the festival holds its fancy gala tonight, where it will honor Billy Joe Shaver, Billy Bob Thornton, Albert S. Ruddy and John Hawkes. But if you’d like to catch a glimpse of a couple of those honorees, you’re in luck.
At 3:30 today, A Conversation with Billy Bob Thornton will take place at the AMC Palace Theater (where all of today’s events will be held). That will be followed by A Conversation with John Hawkes at 5. Actually sat a few seats down from Hawkes at last night’s screening of Jayne Mansfield’s Car. Didn’t seem at all like his characters in Winter’s Bone or Martha Marcy May Marlene.
If you feel like actually watching a movie instead of listening to people talk about them, your best bet is A Royal Affair at 9. Denmark’s official submission to this year’s Academy Awards delves into a royal love triangle that had long lasting effect on the country’s history. Mads Mikkelsen (he of the bloody tears in Casino Royale) is earning raves.
