Congratulations to Guy Reynolds of Dallas, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

CTA TBD

Congratulations to Guy Reynolds of Dallas, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! Guy won our Flickr Photo of the Month contest in January for another animal pic. He follows our previous week’s winner, Samarpita Sengupta.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Guy:

Title of photo: Smile
Equipment: I often use an off-camera flash, even in the middle of the day, and it really makes a difference on an image like this when otherwise the sky would be washed out. Canon EOS 5-D, 14mm lens, Canon 580 EX speedlite.
Tell us more about your photo:This was from a rare day of actually shooting a story for The Dallas Morning News (it ran on the Metro front with a story by Eric Aasen), something I don’t do much of since my job is editing. I love shooting the State Fair and always go out on the first day. I met and photographed Jay and Brennda Gilmore showing llamas in 2009 and 2010. So this year I decided it would make a good feature to actually follow them going about their routine the day before and on opening day. The emu is one of two they have on their farm outside of Boyd along with a herd of about 45 short wool llamas. They’re rather aggressive, and this curious one was no more than 2 feet away for this portrait.
