ARTS CENTER DISSOLVED: Frisco, Plano and Allen have agreed to a plan to dissolve the Arts Center of North Texas – the development formerly known as the Arts Center of Collin County. “We were so close to breaking ground,” Plano Mayor Phil Dyer tells dallasnews.com. “This was a glorious opportunity.” The arts center’s biggest asset – the 124 acres of land valued at $22 million – will go back to the original donor.

A NEW DANCE COMPANY: Avant Chamber Ballet, a new dance company made up primarily of members of the now defunct Metropolitan Classical Ballet, performed for just the second time over the weekend. In her theaterjones.com review, Margaret Putnam writes that the works in “European Crossing: Where Dance and Music Intersect,” performed at LifeStage Theatre in Grapevine, “range from spare and modern to scrupulously clean and sunny.” Before the weekend’s program, artistic director Katie Puder told dfw.com that, “My choreography is closer to something along the lines of the Balanchine American aesthetic – focused on musicality and the music, and not so much the story.” Interested? The performance will be repeated Oct. 25 at the Eisemann Center.
