Congratulations to Kaity Volpe of Fort Worth, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

CTA TBD

Congratulations to Kaity Volpe of Fort Worth, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! This is Kaity’s first win in our little contest; you can see more of her work on her website. She follows our previous week’s winner, Sonja Quintero.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Kaity:

Title of photo: Flying Free
Equipment: D300 and 50mm prime lens
Tell us more about your photo: This photo was taken at a rehearsal for The Fifth Sun at Artes de la Rosa. This image was part of my photo campaign to help The Arts Council of Fort Worth fight the 25 percent budget cut to the arts. My camera was all backed up, and I was about to walk out the door when the actress in the photo started flying around the stage. I quickly dropped my bags, unpacked my camera and grabbed this great shot. I have learned through the years that some of my most important images have occurred because of my decision to stay and take a few more photos instead of going home.
