Bart Weiss is a founder and director of Dallas VideoFest (and also a frequent Art&Seek guest blogger.) Today, he introduces an ongoing look back at the Fest, as it heads into its 25th Season.
As we gear up for the 25th Video Festival, we have been looking back at the past.
This year, before each program, we will show a one minute snippet of a video from our 25 years. (Check out this year’s schedule.) To prepare, I had to read through 24 years of program books, which brought back so many memories: So many videos and so many people.
Not just the people in the audience and the people who made the work, though man, do I appreciate them. Often left unnoticed are the community that makes this happen each year. So we wanted to find a way to reconnect with these communities. We asked some VideoFest alumni to write about some memories, and also, in the “What’s- on-your- iPod?” kind of way, we asked what they were interested in now. With Art&Seek, we bring you “Looking Back, Looking Forward.”
First up, Carolyn Sortor.
