THE DYNAMIC DUO: David Byrne and the Pride of Lake Highlands St. Vincent have teamed up on a new album, Love This Giant. And this fall, they’re hitting the road to play those songs, including an Oct. 7 swing by McFarlin Auditorium. So what will that sound like? The pair preview the album and the tour in a video from The Daily Beast.

ON THE ROAD: WaterTower Theatre is currently lending its studio space to Totally Wow Productions for Neil LaBute’s Autobahn. The show is actually a collection of seven one-act plays, all of which take place in the front seat of a car. The concept sounds cool, but Lawson Taitte was mostly unmoved. “The production … crashes and burns, just as you fear the characters in the show might as they zip along freeways paying scant attention to the road ahead,” he writes on dallasnews.com. Elaine Liner left a little happier. “In a couple of the segments, [LaBute] comes up with interesting detours into the psyches of obsessed lovers and, in two plays, sexual predators,” she writes on dallasobserver.com. “The other pieces too quickly fall into the same formulaic rhythm of set-up, awkward silence and twisted climax.” Catch the show through Sunday.

BY THE PEOPLE: The Denver Art Museum is trying something new this summer – turning over some of its gallery space to Denver artists. It’s an idea the Denver Post isn’t too thrilled with. “There’s something utterly charming about seeing those objects in the haughty museum and something hopelessly patronizing about it as well. They don’t belong there, but there they are, and the effort is winning — if you’re willing to be a sport about it,” Ray Mark Rinaldi writes. Still, is this something we should try locally? Discuss.
