We recently caught up with Ange Fitzgerald, who will be showcased at tomorrow night’s RZN8 event. Ange is a local photographer whose work is well known across Dallas, appearing in events such as The Pin Show. She was excited to join the group of artists participating in this year’s Art Conspiracy seed event. The theme of this year’s event is audio speakers. Each artist was given a speaker, and asked to work it into their piece (see Ange’s piece above). Here’s what she had to say about her piece, and how ArtCon has inspired her:
I was inspired by a trip to the Arboretum and chose to use some photographs of flowers for my RZN8 piece.
I tried to think about what I would like the speaker I was given to look like in my own home as a functional piece of art and decided to incorporate the speaker into several layers of plexiglass encompassing 2 digital prints bolted at the corners.
I became involved with Art Conspiracy when I was asked to be Volunteer Coordinator for ArtCON 4.
I was overwhelmed by the close relationships made and team/family atmosphere that comes with being involved in producing such a large event – the spirit exhibited by everyone involved was (and still is) magical. I submitted a piece that year and was the volunteer / troops wrangler & a submitting artist again for ArtCON 5.
I moved to Pittsburgh shortly after that and missed the friends I had made via ArtCON kids so much that I returned to Dallas in April of last year and was an artist participant again for ArtCON 7.
I’m looking forward to connecting with old friends and meeting new ones this year at RZN8.
The auctioneers always make the night one to remember and the live music acts planned are sure to be amazing as always.
