THE SOUND OUT WEST: The lineup for this year’s Fort Worth Music Festival (a.k.a., the festival formerly known as Jazz by the Boulevard) has been announced. Dallas’ own Reverend Horton Heat and the Relatives, plus national acts Hayes Carll,  Dr. Dog and Kevin Eubanks are all signed up. Fort Worth will be well-represented by the Orbans, Telegraph Canyon and Burning Hotels. More details about the Sept 28-29 event are at dfw.com.

NEW PUBLIC ART: If you’ve noticed some new sculpture work along Henderson Avenue in Dallas, then you’ve been looking at the recently announced winners of the Art on Henderson public art competion. The grand prize was awarded to Clyde, Texas-based artist Nic Noblique for his work Even Your Emotions Have an Echo (right). For his effort, Noblique takes home a $3,500 check. Second and third place prizes went to Steve van Gelder of Dallas and Faith Schexnayder of Austin, respectively. You can see their pieces – as well as the other finalists – on the contest’s website.

WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES … : You might have heard the news Tuesday that Ghost Bar – which has occupied prime real estate at the W Hotel since it opened, will close this month. The club was run for the past six years by Wade Randolph Hampton, who didn’t take any time to find another job. Late Tuesday, Hampton was named creative director of Dallas’ M3 Films – the company run by husband-and-wife team Michael Cain and Melina McKinnon. Hampton previously worked with the pair on the documentary TV Junkie, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006. Hampton will immediately begin work on the company’s next film, a documentary on Dallas’ famed Starck Club.
