Friday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 8 Jun 2012 7:56 AM

Today in the roundup: How to be a cultured mom, DTC loses an acting company member and Fort Worth gains a movie theater.

CTA TBD

HOW TO BE A CULTURED MOM: DallasChild magazine recently asked some local lumanaries in the know where they go for their culture fix for a feature about how to be a cultured mom. KERA’s Krys Boyd was one of them – she suggests following “curators” you trust on Twitter. There are actually some pretty good tips in the story (and I’m not just saying that because two of the contributers suggest a regular visit to artandseek.)

SO LONG, MATT GRAY: Dallas Theater Center’s resident acting company has lost one of its original members. Matt Gray was part of the group when it formed three years ago, but he has resigned his position to take a corporate job. And that’s got Lawson Taitte shedding a tear. “His only DTC role that really showed what he could do was the hard-working son in Dividing the Estate – one of the subtlest, most heart-breaking performances ever to grace a Dallas stage,” he writes on dallasnews.com.

FORT WORTH’S NEW THEATER: It’s been about 15 years since Fort Worth has had a new movie theater. But that changes today with the opening of the 14-screen Cinemark Alliance Town Center in north Fort Worth. Among the bells and whistles are a cafeteria-style concession stand, roomy seats and wall-to-wall screens, reports dfw.com.
