CTA TBD

TAKING UP RESIDENCE: You might remember Jerome’s story from last summer about the Fairmont Hotel’s artist residency program. The idea is that an artist lives in the hotel for three months while creating a site-specific piece. Yesterday, the Fairmont announced its newest appointment – Dallas artist Courtney Miles. You can read all about her on her website.

MUSIC BITS: Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge in Fort Worth has pushed its opening from May to June 15. (dfw.com) … White Denim, the Austin band with some North Texas bones, talks about the process of recording a new album. (dallasobserver.com) … The Phuss frontman Joshua Fleming talks about having the band’s album produced by Toadies frontman Vaden Todd Lewis. (fwweekly.com)

A NOTABLE DEATH: Nancy Cone Hanley, the Dallas artist and arts patron, died Tuesday. Hanley was a board member for the MAC, the Arlington Museum of Art and the Dallas Visual Arts Center. She also served on the Dallas Museum of Art’s collections committee.  “She not only loved contemporary art but had a real passion for the contemporary artists of Texas and Dallas in particular,” DMA director Maxwell Anderson tells dallasnews.com.
