Videos on opera, videos on museums; reviews on Tigers Be Still, and thoughts on creativity. Dig in.

CTA TBD

To The Lighthouse:  Dallas Theater Center’s Kevin Moriarty directs and The Wyly Theatre hosts the Dallas Opera Friday, when The Lighthouse opens. The hope is to inaugurate a chamber-opera series and attract some new fans to the art, the opera’s CEO Keith Cerny tells DMN’s Scott Cantrell. Meantime, Theater Jones has posted a series of behind-the-scenes videos on the collaboration. Here’s the first:

Hear Them Roar: Speaking of the Theater Center, reviews are coming in for the new production Tigers Be Still. Sweet and funny, is the general consensus. (OK, Front Row’s headline says sweet and endearing.)  The small play sidesteps all sarcasm and ushers in a new way to be funny and hopeful, says David Novinski on Theater Jones. The DMN’s Lawson Taitte notes that lead Chamblee Ferguson gets reacquainted with his “funniest man in town” title. And Front Row’s Liz Johnstone says keep an eye on playwright Kim Rosenstock.

Who’s Who: What’s an associate registrar do? Meet the Amon Carter’s Ross Auerbach, who will be happy to tell you.

Bonus Happy Thought: There’s no such thing as a “creative type” according to this WSJ article , which explores new research on creativity and offers hacks to help bring more of it into problem-solving, life.
