Art&Seek Jr. is one mom‘s quest to find activities to end the seemingly endless chorus of the “I’m Bored Blues” while having fun herself. Impossible you say? Check back on Tuesdays for kid-friendly events that are fun for adults, too.
Okay, I know tomorrow is a school night, but this cool little event just might be worth putting off the homework for a few hours. The Mama Doni Band is making its premiere Dallas performance at the Ann and Nate Levine Academy. What? Never heard of the Mama Doni Band? Well, the group bills itself as “Wacky Jewish Indie-rock for kids”. Frontwoman/songwriter Doni Zasloff Thomas (a.k.a Mama Doni) says their music connects people to their Jewish identity, and it also shares their culture with those who aren’t Jewish. Their music is really intended for families of all backgrounds. The two shows–an early one for younger kids and a later one for 2nd to 8th grade families–promise to be quirky, offbeat, and unpredictable. Sounds like fun, right? If you decide to go to both shows, the nice people at the Levine Academy informed me there will be a light Kosher meal for purchase. So you and the kids get to listen to great music AND have dinner taken care of. What could be better than that?
