Afternoon Delight: Buildings as Canvases for Fireworks

Afternoon Delight is offering a twofer today — because no single video can convey the visual splendors of last month’s Ghent Light Festival in Belgium.

Afternoon Delight is a daily diversion for when you’re just back from lunch, but not quite ready to get back to work. Check back tomorrow at 1 p.m. for another one.
We’ve featured lightshows before this — animated projections on the sides of buildings or even skateparks. And Dallas itself has had its own share of such displays. But this has to be one of the loveliest and most elaborate — for the Ghent Light Festival last month. To give you some idea of the festival — the video above concentrates on only one building, the Post Office, getting rebuilt by acrobats and clowns. Much of downtown Ghent, including moving street cars, bridges and canal boats, was lit up in dazzling and inventive ways:
