In taking a second run through the list of Oscar nominees, a name well-known to the local arts community flies off the page – Brandon Oldenburg. His The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore was nominated for best animated short. Brandon, you’ll remember, helped design the Traveling Man sculpture in Deep Ellum. He currently heads up Moonbot Studios in Shreveport.

The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore has also had a second life as a popular iPad app, which I talked to Oldenburg about ahead of last year’s VideoFest.
