Art&Seek Jr.: Weekly Adventures Just for Kids (And Their Entourage)

by Therese Powell 24 Jan 2012 1:45 PM

We’re starting a new weekly feature to spotlight family-friendly events. Up this week: Texas Discovery Gardens gives us a sneak peek of spring in its Come to the Tropics! event.

CTA TBD

Art&Seek Jr. is one mom‘s quest to find activities to end the seemingly endless chorus of the “I’m Bored Blues” while having fun herself.  Impossible you say? Check back on Tuesdays for kid-friendly events that are fun for adults, too.

Sorry kids, but it looks as though we’re going to miss our annual Snowmageddon winter event this year. Having said that, it’s still been a bit nippy outside, and Rose and I find ourselves longing for the spring and all that it entails. If you’re like us, this Saturday is the perfect opportunity for you and the kids to break out your Hawaiian shirts and hightail it down to Texas Discovery Gardens for Come to the Tropics! Not only will there be butterflies galore in the temperature controlled butterfly house, but kids can “visit” the countries where the butterflies come from with a special passport. The passport is stamped at various displays as kids explore tropical cultures and enjoy themed activities. As an added bonus, the first 300 visitors get colorful leis!  Everyone scream “ALOHA!”
