I don’t wanna create guilt or anything. How about some Fela Kuti or maybe “The City of the Sun” by Kevin Gilbert.

  • Patti Bradley, Denton

No, I’m not watching football. Here are some ideas: Procol Harem, Bread, Cream, Average White Band, Commodores, Vanilla Fudge.
From an even earlier era: Patsy Cline

    • Anonymous

these are all acceptably groovy. thanks

Lecrae is my favorite Christian Rap Artist. Would recommend anything from his album Rehab.
Leslie Hall is definitely not a conventional artist. Her songs are quirky and strange; for example, her rap song Rollin’ With the Homies starts with a banjo solo. How We Go Out, Gem Sweater, and Shazam (You’re Glamourous) are some of my favorites.

I will sure check it out and see what I find. thanks

I would love to hear you play some Rising Appalachia “Caminando” from their album The Sails of Self.

They are an amazingly talented sister group and they are working on an album now that us fans helped fund! I think your listeners would love it and they could definitely use some exposure!!

Thanks! Love your show! In the car listening now!

  • The show is great as always! Here are some additional suggestions straight from my MP3 player:

“Talk to Me” by Joni Mitchell from Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter (ft. J. Pastorius on bass!)
“Beyond Skin” by Nitin Sawhney from Beyond Skin (magnificent World Beat Electronica)
“Get the Hell Out” by Nine Horses from Money for All (Nine Horses is David Sylvian, his brother-drummer-solo artist of his own accord Steve Jansen, and a guy named Burnt Friedman also a stand alone artist – these 3 are awesome together)
“Scale It Back” DJ Shadow from The Less You Know the Better (so much more than playing records)
“Out of the Blue (Into the Fire) by The The from Infected (the genius angst of Matt Johnson)

There is bound to be something in that little selection that you and my fellow listeners will dig.

Thanks for another whirlwind 2 hours Paul!

Just bought a Band of Horses cd recently and noticed the influence from the Beach Boys later works, especially Holland.
