OFF AND RUNNING: Oleanna, the debut production of University of Dallas professor Kyle Lemieux’s Dallas Actor’s Lab, opened recently at the Green Zone. The play deals with a college student who battles with her male professor when she finds herself in danger of failing his course. And from reading the reviews, it sounds as if the new company is a welcome addition. “The two-character play vividly dramatizes the enormous interpretations available in the simplest of language, and most innocent of gestures,” Martha Heimberg writes on theaterjones.com. “Oleanna sets the tone for the kind of theater the Lab seems interested in producing,” Liz Johnstone writes on Front Row. Catch it through Aug. 14.
SHAKEUP AT TCC: The Turtle Creek Chorale has recently undergone a few changes at the top, reports dallasnews.com. Artistic director Jonathan Palant quit after four years on the job. And David Fisher, who previously managed the Meyerson and Bath House Cultural Center, has been named the group’s new executive director.
A BIGGER POP-UP: You might remember PopUp 310, the temporary gallery that filled a vacant storefront in the West Village for a few months last year. These types of low-risk, buzz-building ventures have been a fad both here and around the country of late. And now, the Guggenheim Foundation in New York is taking the concept one large step further with the first pop-up museum.
