Where do fashion, design, pop-culture and art all meet? We’ll discuss the complementary and complex relationships between each of these fields at tonight’s State of the Arts. Our starting point will be the just-opened Dallas Museum of Art exhibit The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.

Our guests will include FD Luxe editor Tracy Achor Hayes and Kevin Tucker, The Margot B. Perot Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Museum.

With 30 years of experience both reporting on fashion and as a fashion editor for the Dallas Morning News Tracy Achor Hayes has a unique perspective on how style has changed since the early 1980s. She’s also about to take a big new step in her career as the Neiman Marcus editorial director.

Kevin Tucker, who’s been at the DMA since 2003, has long had an interest in the “entire range of design” and the accessibility that fashion and other production items offer to an audience. Kevin premiered the nationally touring exhibition, Gustav Stickley and the American Arts & Crafts Movement in 2010 and authored the accompanying catalogue. He is also the coordinating curator for the DMA’s presentation of the Gaultier exhibit.

Our conversation takes place tonight at the Dallas Museum of Art’s Horchow Auditorium. Details and a link for reservations are here. I really hope you can make it.
