Art&Seek Plans Your Week

by Nilufer Arsala 7 Nov 2011 11:44 AM

On tap this week: Films galore in Fort Worth, a visit from Stephen King and 16 hours of Bach.

CTA TBD

Hey there, glad you stopped by, because this is a very exciting week! Mostly because it’s time again for two of our favorite annual events: The Lone Star Film Festival kicks of Wednesday at Sundance Square in Fort Worth, and artists have once again taken over an old warehouse to make art and throw a rockin’ party for Art Conspiracy. I always feel like there should be an echo on the name of that party, because it is just that great.

If you want to start tonight, catch Canadian band Simple Plan at the House of Blues. You can even make it a one-two punch of Canadian music by going to see Feist tomorrow. Also up for live music this week is Nigerian-American rapper Wale, Modest Mouse and a whoooole bunch of Bach at the 16-hour Bach-a-Thon. SIXTEEN hours of Bach is no joke!

Also up this week, an Art Studio Tour in McKinney, Family Fun at the Amon Carter and Mountain View College’s Fall theater production, Defying Gravity. The play is loosely based on the life of Christa McAuliffe, the schoolteacher who rode in the Challenger shuttle in 1986.

Of course, there is more going on this week, and you will know all about everything when you download our new smart phone app (free!) and sign up for our weekly e-newsletter (also free … and you can win stuff!).  Today, I will leave you with a Family Guy clip featuring author Stephen King (cartoon version), who has a new book coming out and will talk about it with Lee Cullum at the Majestic this week. I was going to pull a clip from the movie It, but Pennywise the Clown still scares me. Have a great week!
