Wednesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 26 Oct 2011 7:40 AM

Today in the roundup: How to be a zombie, Sandra Day O’Connor in Fort Worth and an advanced look at a major show coming to the Modern.

CTA TBD

BEWARE THE ZOMBIES: On Sunday, zombies will invade the Arts District. But don’t worry about your brain just yet – the invasion is courtesy of the Dallas Theater Center, which is helping people out with a couple of tutorials on how to become a zombie for Halloween. In the video above, DTC company member Lee Trull explains how to walk like the undead. And in a previous video, Christie Vela explains how to zombify your clothes. Keep your eyes peeled for another upcoming video on how to do your zombie makeup.

HOME ON THE RANGE: Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will be in Fort Worth today to induct eight new members into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. The museum will also open an exhibition dedicated to the first woman on the SCOTAS bench. A list of the inductees is available at star-telegram.com.

AN ADVANCE LOOK: In February, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth will host “Glenn Ligon: America” – the first comprehensive look at the influential artist’s career. The exhibition was organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art and is making a stop at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art before heading to Fort Worth. In his latimes.com review, Christopher Knight writes: “Ligon’s iconoclasm is never cavalier, always acute and historically grounded. That’s what distinguishes a gifted artist from an ordinary vandal, and it makes this trenchant retrospective required viewing.”
