The KXT Birthday Party Is Starting … Now.

by Jerome Weeks 26 Oct 2011 4:02 PM

KXT turns 2 2-day. So we’re throwing a party. And we’re starting with Fitz and the Tantrums, stopping by the studio.

CTA TBD

Who said they’re the Terrible Twos?

Fitz and the Tantrums are headlining tonight’s Birthday Party #2 for station KXT at the House of Blues with opening acts Calhoun and Walk the Moon. But the LA-based, blue-eyed soul-pop band loaded into KXT a while ago, setting up for an on-air session.

KXT’s Mark Abuzzahab is talking to them about coming into SXSW two years ago as an unsigned band, coming out with a contract with indie label Dangerbird Records — and since then, touring and touring, playing Jay Leno, playing Lollapalooza, playing Australia. All of this in, like, 18 months.

Oh yes, and they’re playing some tunes off of Pickin’ Up the Pieces, the album they released in January.

You can listen to them tonight. Tickets are still available for the KXT Turns 2 Birthday Concert.
