The Descendants, Alexander Payne’s long awaited followup to Sideways, will open this year’s Lone Star International Film Festival. The film stars George Clooney as a man whose life is turned upside down when his wife goes into a coma and he’s forced to become a single parent to the daughters he hardly knows.

The movie has been making the festival circuit, including the Toronto Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. It plays at Lone Star on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the AMC Palace Theater 8.
