HELP WANTED: The Dallas Film Society is looking for a new president and CEO. That’s because Tanya Foster, who has held those positions for the last two years, is resigning to spend more time with her family. “Now that the organization is operating successfully as we envisioned when I joined, I am ready to enjoy spending precious time with my family,” she says in a news release. ” My plan is to participate in the executive search and to continue in my position until my successor is in place.”

TAKIN’ IT TO THE STREETS: In 2010, the Meadows School at SMU awarded its Meadows Prize to hip-hop theater artist Will Power. And this semester, Power has been working with students at the school to develop a show. The result is Alice Underground, an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland that debuts tonight. “Come with an open mind,” Power tells theaterjones.com. “One of my goals is to bridge the widening gap that exists between generations. Some people might come because they see the word hip-hop and they think it’s one thing, but it then opens them up and they say ‘I didn’t know it could be that.’ If you don’t know the full canon of something, you don’t understand it.” The show runs through Sunday.

IN-HOUSE KUDOS: On Monday, Theatre Three opened A Catered Affair, a show Harvey Fierstein adapted for the stage about a family planning a wedding. Lawson Taitte mostly liked the show in his dallasnews.com review, but he saves the best part for last: “Fierstein wrote the role of the gay uncle for himself to play. Christopher Wagley sings it much better and is far less annoying.” When Wagley isn’t singing on stage, he works upstairs from Art&Seek as KERA’s Director of Marketing & Communications.
