GOING LOCAL: For its current production of Spring Awakening, WaterTower Theatre tapped TCU grad John de los Santos to handle the choreography. The 30-year-old has been making a name for himself locally, choreographing and acting and dancing for theaters while directing for Fort Worth Opera. But Spring Awakening offered him some unique challenges, he tells dallasnews.com. For starters, he was following in the footsteps of Bill T. Jones, who won a Tony for choreographing the Broadway version of the show. But he says, “The biggest challenge has been the damn microphones. Jumping off a chair holding up a mike to your face is really very difficult.” Spring Awakening runs through Oct. 23.

THE BOOK ON THE DMA: How do you go about organizing a book that details an entire museum collection? That was the challenge the Dallas Museum of Art recently faced when it decided that its collections handbook was getting a little dated. The last one was published in 1997, and a lot of art has come into the collection since then. The museum’s Uncrated blog details the process of preparing the new edition, with lots of cool photos detailing the process.
