The Associated Press reports that a $25,000 reward has been offered for Pierre Auguste Renoir’s Madeleine Leaning on Her Elbow with Flowers in Her Hair. It’s part of a private collection and was reported stolen Sept. 8. An armed, ski-mask-wearing man walked into the collector’s home and demanded money and jewelry. The collector pointed to the painting and indicated it was far more valuable. Apparently, he didn’t bother informing the robber that money and jewelry are much, much easier to re-sell, pawn or fence than a French oil painting from 1918.
