LSFS ANNOUNCES FIRST FILMS: The Lone Star Film Society has announced the first five films that will show at this year’s Lone Star Film Festival. Most notable are Natural Selection, which won by the Audience Award and Grand Jury prize at South by Southwest this year, and Slacker 2011, in which Austin filmmakers commemorate the 20th anniversary of Richard Linklater’s feature debut. THE MAKING OF ‘HAIR’: The rock musical Hair opened last night at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, and if you happened to see it when it debuted on Broadway in 1968, you may have noticed a few changes. That’s because co-creator James Rado has been tinkering with the show here and there ever since to keep it relevant. Still, he says the shows original feeling is still there. “We wanted to bring the excitement and wonder and awe of what we experienced in the streets. There was an amazement , and we wanted that amazement on stage,” he tells theaterjones.com. “I think we successfully created the allusion, because I got the impression that the audience thought these were really hippies onstage.”
