Playwright Regina Taylor Given Residency

The Oak Cliff native, whose Trinity River Plays was premiered by the Dallas Theater Center last year, is one of five playwrights given money, benefits and full stage productions for five years by the celebrated off-Broadway company, the Signature Theater.

Oak Cliff native Regina Taylor, whose Trinity River Plays was world-premiered by the Dallas Theater Center last year, is one of five playwrights given a new Signature Theater residency. The celebrated off-Broadway  company, founded by SMU grad James Houghton, has started the Residency Five program, says the NYTimes. It will guarantee the writers three full productions of new plays over the next five years along with $50,000 cash, stipends to attend theater, plus health insurance. The other writers are Anne Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall and Kenneth Lonergan.
