WORKS ON LOAN: A couple of important works in local collections have hit the road lately as part of blockbuster shows. First, the Dallas Museum of Art lent the Kimbell Georges Braque’s Still Life with Bottles and Glasses for “Picasso and Braque: The Cubist Experiment, 1910–1912.” To show her appreciation, Kimbell director of conservation Claire Barry writes about why the work is so important to the show on the DMA’s Uncrated blog. And lest you think the Kimbell is only about receiving, check out the nytimes.com review of “Vishnu: Hinduism’s Blue-Skinned Savior” at the Brooklyn Museum. The Kimbell lent out a bronze Vishnu for the show.

TWO CENTURIES OF ART: As part of its ongoing celebration of its 50th birthday, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art launched “The Allure of Paper: Watercolors and Drawings from the Collection” over the weekend. Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, John Singer Sargent and other heavyweights are included in the show that ranges from the early 19th century to the late 20th. “It’s an impressive showcase of the museum’s holdings in media that generally play second fiddle to oil painting,” Scott Cantrell writes on dallasnews.com. Catch the show through Oct. 9.

A FIRST LOOK AT ‘DALLAS’: Last night, TNT showed a sneak preview of Dallas, which we learned yesterday will actually be shot in Dallas.
