Remember Philip Haas’ incredible multi-media exhibition at the Kimbell, Butchers, Dragons, Gods and Skeletons? To my mind, it was the art event of 2009 (OK, so maybe the opening of the AT&T PAC loomed larger).
Haas’ fascinating takes on classic works in the Kimbell’s collection (a Chinese scroll, a James Ensor painting) continue to pop up around the world. The latest incarnation: His film installation, The Death of Pentheus (above), inspired by a Greek wine cup from the 5th century B. C., will be projected on to London’s National Theatre, July 22.
