Im here and ready to hear some interesting suggestions.

  • Andrew

I’ve always loved “This is my Country” by the Johnny Mann Singers.

    LP mono: Liberty LRP-3505
    LP stereo: Liberty LST-7505
Most tracks also on CD 72435-29090

  • Paul Slavens

great idea, I already picked all the music for tonite, but I will check it out anyways.
    cheers

  • James Lovell

    Wooohooo! Brazilian Girls…

Might I suggest Satan Gave Me A Taco by Beck from Stereopathetic Soul Manure or perhaps I could interest you in a little Soul Coughing. Maybe a track from Ruby Vroom like Moon Sammy, Supra Genius or Casiotone Nation.

    • Paul Slavens

I love that band, I will check out those tracks for you , thanks

      • Seven years? How time flies when you’re having fun with great music. Happy anniversary! Thanks in advance also for playing Homespun Remedies (among other homegrown talents)!

  • Andrew

Love it! YES, from CD “YESTERDAYS”

    “America”

Let us be lovers, we’ll marry our fortunes together
I’ve got some real estate in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner’s pies
And we walked off, walked off, walked off,to look for America

Kathy, I said, as we boarded the greyhound in Pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
Took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
They’ve all gone to look for America
All gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus, playing games with faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful, his bow tie is really a camera

“Kathy, I’m lost”, I said, although I knew she was sleeping
I’m empty and aching and I don’t know why I’m
Counting the cars on the New Jersey turnpike
And they’ve all gone to look for America
All gone to look for America
All gone to look for America

  • James Lovell

Hmmm…Miss America by David Byrne would have been phun to hear tonight. I’ll pipe down now.

    • Paul Slavens

@James :unfortunately cant play every America song in one night. plus, doesnt he say a naughty word in that song?

  • Ray

How about Dead Can Dance sometime? The intro to this song is a bit long so be patient.

    • Paul Slavens

Dead Can Dance, I think I have played some, but not for a long time. So , thanks for the remind.
Yep, 7 years. But I have loved every minute.

  • Paul– I LOVE this Mtheny-Bowie collab. Thanks for playing.

    • Paul Slavens

Yeah, Bowie has done some doozies. thanks for the CW Stoneking, I think I have heard of that but not sure,
so I will check it, and the Pokey. the Spankers I know, I will try and find something tasty for next time.

  • Ray

Also another Austrailian, C. W. Stoneking. His music is a lot like the Asylum Street Spankers and Pokey Lafarge.

  • Paul Slavens

some comments are mysteriously not showing up, sorry about that, if its you.

  • I would like to hear some of my new cd..On The Run By Richard Gilbert …for purely selfish reasons of course.

  • Love your show. Please play Rumble in the Jungle by Old Crow Medicine Show.

    • Paul Slavens

I will consider these ideas very strongly.

  • Paul Slavens

@Mati- for some reason your comment wont show up on the blog. but I got it, and its weird that you suggested that Kindlewood, right before i was gonna play it anyways. weeeeiiiirrrrrd. all other comments have been showing up. but not yours. anyway, thanks.

  • Paul Slavens

  • Regan

Nice show. When will we get the Paul Slavens twitter feed?

  • Paul Brown

    Paul –
VERY cool to hear you playing Ted Weems… my father was his 1st trumpet player for several years back in the ’40s, before he went to NYC to do the same thing at Radio City for a decade…

  • Paul Muller

I think July 3rd 2001 is your best show ever! Yes, Kansas, Bowie, The The, Captain Fantastic, Smoke Fairies…..

Have you hear SIA’s song “Cloud” Just a suggestion for next week.

or maybe “Daily Nightly” by the Monkeys. Its the first use of a MOOG Synthesizer in a pop song. Its on the ‘Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones” album
