Wednesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 29 Jun 2011 7:50 AM

Today in the roundup: Rhett Miller video, one actor talks about playing twins and design quick hits.

CTA TBD

TWIN BILL: Second Thought Theatre is closing out its season with Dying City. The play centers on a woman whose husband is killed in Iraq. A year later, she receives an unexpected visit from his twin brother. Second Thought chose to go the Social Network route and have the same actor play both twins. Rhett Henckel talks to theaterjones.com about playing both brothers as well as his return to Dallas after an extended stay in New York. And if you missed it earlier in the week, be sure to check out Dying City director Lee Trull’s “New Rules and Assumptions for Directing Theater.”

MORE RHETT: On Tuesday, we made note of your chance to listen to The Grand Theatre Vol. 2, the upcoming release from the Old 97’s. And after listening you may be wondering, “What might those songs sound like live?” Well, Rhett Miller recently stopped by Channel 4 to play the song “Perfume,” and you can watch video at myfoxdfw.com.

DESIGN QUICK HITS: A new book is coming out called The Wall: Modern Day Music Posters. And it will include two local entries – one from Lance Lester and one from the Art&Seek profiled Magnificent Beard.  … Doug May and Don Sibley each recently received the AIGA’s Fellow Award, which recognizes designers who have made significant contributions to their local design communities. They’re only the second and third locals to earn the honor, and they get the profile treatment on Graphic Design USA‘s website.
