Congratulations to Brian Hamm of Plano, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest!

CTA TBD

Congratulations to Brian Hamm of Plano, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! Brian previously won our contest in January with a photo of Joe Satriani at the Granada. He follows last week’s winner, Matt Harvey.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.

Now, here’s more from Brian:

Title of photo: Polyphonic Spree @ DMA
Equipment: Canon 50D, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4
Tell us more about your photo: This show was unlike anything I’d experienced before. I’m not referring to the sound or the production so much (it was a relatively small, outdoor venue). No, I mean in terms of energy, and just the pure joy being radiated from that stage. It was really beautiful to be part of that. Several times that night I caught myself smiling, even for a while after the show.

As far as photography, I’ll just say that feeling inspired is a big part of how I shoot and the images I make. Being out on a photo walk with someone who really gets me, and knows how draw me out creatively – that’s the best. Absent that, I make a conscious effort to get out and attend creative events like DMA Late Nights. Having all three museums participate this month was great!
