Dogs and Cats and Art, Oh My!

by Cindy Chaffin 20 May 2011 4:35 PM

Artist John Abrams is doing a little house-cleaning – and you and the SPCA can benefit.

CTA TBD

Local artist John Abrams is doing some serious spring-cleaning. In an effort to downsize and change directions, John is auctioning off all of his remaining works. That includes paintings, sculpture, pastels, pencil drawings, sketches, lock-stock and barrel. Just to sweeten the deals, he’s also including the tools he used to create his works of art. Not only will you have the opportunity to bid on some amazing artwork, you’ll be helping out our furry friends too, as every single cent raised will go straight to the SPCA of Texas. In fact, representatives from the SPCA will be in attendance to collect the proceeds at the end of the auction.

The auction is being held at Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum, where John has been a longtime fixture, starts at 2 p.m., and goes on until 5 p.m. Be sure and bring cash or checks because credit cards aren’t accepted.

Mr. Abrams has been a working Dallas artist since 1978, moving from his hometown in New York after receiving his B.A. in Art History and a Master’s Degree in Library Science.

He has exhibited all over the country and works in several mediums. Mr. Abrams has also lectured and taught art at the University of Texas at Dallas, the Creative Arts Center and area community colleges.
