BUDD AND HIS BROS: Fort Worth artist Richie Budd isn’t afraid to push the boundaries of what is considered art. At last month’s SCOPE art fair in New York, he gathered a few frat guys, gave ’em all beer and put them inside a glass container as one of his “performative sculptures.” (Note to Richie: Hang out in Uptown and you’ll never want for future materials.) “I hope my art has a sense of humor,” Budd tells fwweekly.com. So how does he feel when critics don’t get the joke? “It’s better than the usual backslapping. At least criticism gives you something to work with.”
IN YOUR HONOR: When you’re honored by a film festival, some kind of video tribute is pretty much standard procedure. That was the case for Horton Foote and Ann-Margret, who each received the Dallas Film Society’s Star Award during the recent Dallas International Film Festival. If you missed those tributes, you can now watch ’em online.
MILES AND MILES OF ART: The Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival begins its run today in downtown Fort Worth. More than 200 artists, not to mention plenty of musical acts and other forms of entertainment, will be on hand for the four-day event. So where to begin? Consider dfw.com’s list of a dozen things not to be missed.
