Tuesday Morning Roundup

by Stephen Becker 15 Feb 2011 7:37 AM

Today in the roundup: Pictures from an exhibition, a Texas Grammy recap and planning your SXSW.

CTA TBD

SETTING THE STAGE: On Sunday, the Dallas Museum of Art opened “Gustav Stickley and the American Arts & Crafts Movement,” an exhibition of the designers furniture, metalwork, textiles and more. Staging a show with all of those different shaped objects requires a lot of planning and prep work, which the museum documented in a slide show.

GRAMMY RECAP: Admittedly, this is about a day late. But it takes a while to comb through the 109 categories to see which Texans took home Grammys on Sunday night. Fortunately, Preston Jones over at dfw.com had a little time to do just that. A quick look at the list tells us there will be some celebrating going on in Austin this week (as if they needed another reason to celebrate).

PLAN YOUR SXSW: We’ve known for a while now that more than 30 North Texas acts will be making that drive down 35 to perform at South by Southwest, but details have been murky about when exactly everyone is playing. Now we’re starting to find that out, too. DC9 at Night searched the schedule to find out when our locals are performing, and it looks like opening day will be action packed: The Burning Hotels, The Daylights, Josh T. Pearson, Matthew and The Arrogant Sea, OK Sweetheart, The Orbans, Smokin’ Joe Kubek and B’nois King, Sundress and Telegraph Canyon will all take the stage.
