Edgar Winter was born in Beaumont, Texas, on Dec. 28, 1946. As a teenager, he played in several blues bands with his older brother, Johnny Winter. In 1971, Edgar released the blues and R&B album Edgar Winter’s White Trash. By 1972, he had formed the Edgar Winter Group and had a No. 1 hit with the instrumental “Frankenstein.” Edgar Winter has appeared with Ringo Starr, David Lee Roth and many other legendary performers. Winter’s songs have been recorded by a variety of prominent artists, and several of his hits now serve as the soundtrack for some of the best-selling video games on the market.
