THE YEAR IN THEATER: We’re in the home stretch for year-end lists, but if I know anything about newspapers (trust me, I do) it’s that we’ll have more lists showing up the rest of this week. Today’s comes courtesy of the Fort Worth Star Telegram, who asked Mark Lowry of Theater Jones fame to rank Fort Worth’s top theater productions for 2010. Circle Theatre and Jubilee Theatre each landed two shows on the list, but you might be surprised by which company takes the top spot. For a more narrowly-focused list, Theater Jones narrows down the best of area Shakespeare.
MUSIC BITS: If you listened to our year in music show on Think last week, you know that Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights was one of our favorite local acts of 2010. And it’s no surprise the band is making other local lists, too. (DC9 at Night) … Better than Ezra swings by the House of Blues tonight. If you need a refresher course, frontman Kevin Griffin catches you up on what the band’s been up to. (dallasnews.com) … Producer Robby Baxter talks about moving back to his hometown of Arlington after working with some of the biggest names in the biz. (fwweekly.com)
STAYING IN-HOUSE: The Dallas Museum of Art looked internally to piece together one of its current shows, “Re-Seeing the Contemporary: Selected from the Collection.” A couple of DMA interns break down the show on the museum’s Uncrated Blog by placing the work into some interesting categories.
