Here’s what looks good for Thursday at the Lone Star International Film Festival:
Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff – As I wrote yesterday, this year’s festival features a number of docs that focus on the moviemaking process. Cinematography is a vital part of that process, and few were better at it than Jack Cardiff. He won an Oscar (Black Narcissus), was nominated for three others and was awarded an honorary one in 2001. (7 p.m., AMC Palace 4)
Monogamy – Dana Adam Shapiro directed Muderball, one of the best documentaries of the last 10 years. So how will he succeed guiding a narrative feature? Find out by watching his first one, Monogamy, about a photographer whose obsession with one of his subjects causes a crack in his relationship with his fiancee. (8:30 p.m., AMC Palace 1)
Texas Show – This shorts block gathers nine films, all by Texas filmmakers. (9 p.m., AMC Palace 4)
