Belated Afternoon Delight: Social Media Shootout at City Hall

by Jerome Weeks 19 Oct 2010 3:28 PM

It’s the Hall O’Death, it’s the Attack of Social Media. It’s our local Fox News station on how tweeting and Facebooking have made journalists into frantic, multi-platform self-promoters.

CTA TBD

Normally, Afternoon Delight is a daily diversion for when you’re just back from lunch, but not quite ready to get back to work — only this time, we got distracted spreading this video around. Check back tomorrow at, oh, maybe around 1 p.m. for the next one.

The video has already gone viral in local media circles. It’s KDFW’s terrific little spoof of social media and how it has been transforming journalism with tweets and Facebook and Skype, not to mention shameless  marketing. Even a mass shooting can’t stop the need to update one’s 87 followers on Twitter.

Love that Matt Grubbs moment — the non-double take — and, of course, SlapDaddy. Who knew Fox News had such a sharp sense of humor? So who wrote it? It’s as good as some of the better Saturday Night Live TV spoofs.

A hearty, happy hat tip to Unfair Park.
