The best-looking bookstore in North Texas will be ceasing operation Aug. 14, according to the Dallas Morning News. It opened two years ago to booklovers’ huzzahs — including mine — but I wasn’t the only one who thought it looked great: The store’s design is featured in the current “Elsewhere, Texas” exhibition at the Dallas Center for Architecture. But the store opened right in the middle of the recession.
Terri Tanner, the owner-manager, said the store’s investors made the decision to close. But she isn’t leaving the business entirely and hasn’t given up hope:
She said she continues to believe that “North Texas readers deserve and will support exceptional independent booksellers.” She has formed Double T Consulting a company “dedicated to pursuing independent bookselling and other retail opportunities.”
Word is she’s scoping out another area location now, but no details have been disclosed.
