THE WEEK OF BIG SHOWS: We’ve got a couple of fairly large shows coming to Dallas beginning today. Lady Gaga begins a two-night residency at the American Airlines Center. To get you prepped, Quick devotes this week’s cover story to the former Stefani Germanotta’s body of work. Meanwhile, Preston Jones and Christopher Kelly discuss her meteoric rise on dfw.com. As Ms. Gaga is playing night two on Friday, a mile away Robert Plant will take the Meyerson stage. Former A&S staffer Mike Daniel got to interview him for a story on dallasnews.com. If I know Mike, he was floating on a cloud after that one.
RANKING THE MUSEUMS: Everyone loves a good list. And when you get to vote on the items of said list, well, there’s really not much better than that. The writers of the Modern Art Notes blog have ranked the top 64 American museums and created a little tournament in which institutions will be pitted against one another with reader votes deciding the outcome. The Dallas Museum of Art ranks highest at No. 34, followed by the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (35), Kimbell Art Museum (37) and Amon Carter (57). You can vote for the first round here. And should you organize a campaign to have No. 64 Princeton University Art Museum upset No. 1 Metropolitan Museum of Art, who am I to stop you?
CALM TO CANINES: Do you have a dog that won’t stop barking? Have you considered playing your furry friend a little classical music? That’s what the Burleson Animal Shelter is doing.
