Art&Seek is launching a new podcast!  ‘Track By Track” will appear every other week on Art&Seek and features KERA 90.1 at Night host Paul Slavens talking with musical artists about the creation process of their latest releases. Listeners will then hear excerpts from those releases.

The inaugural podcast features singer/songwriter Doug Burr, whose latest album is The Shawl.

  • Greatness!

  • Later – I’ve heard the first podcast and I thought you did a good job.
I like the idea of promoting the best music around here. It is certainly hard for local musicians to get a fair hearing, and this may be one of the best opportunities. Nice production.

  • Paul, great job! Exceptional! On Promenade is a wonderful CD, the podcast however is really about The Shawl, which is his latest CD, based on the Psalms.

    this is an extraordinary feature.

I love the fact you referred to the bird songs after the last track. It sounds like a Cardinal.

Great question about the violent nature of some of the lyrics! what a Thoughtful interview.

  • Thanks Billh for pointing out the mistake. We’ve corrected it. (That was a goof on Art&Seek’s part, not Paul’s.) Glad you liked the podcast. Check back every other Monday for more.

  • Great work, Paul! Love this!

  • Bear C.

Great job. Doug’s music is amazing and I appreciate you recognizing it.

  • This is pure-dee genius. Keep ’em comin’!!!

  • Mike Daniel

Paul’s choice of Doug as his first subject is fitting, since Doug’s arguably the most focused singer-songwriter in town right now. Lookin’ foward to more of the series!

  • Eric Salisbury

Great idea Paul. And great execution…the interview and production. Shine forth!

  • Harley Jebens

Love this idea. Loved the execution as well — very well-produced. I have meant to check out Art and Seek for months now, but never seemed to find the time. Hearing that this podcast was available led me to check out artandseek.org for the first time. Can’t wait to hear the next edition. Keep up the good work!

  • Thoughtful interview. So glad you are highlighting our gifted local artists. Just heard Doug at a local venue and am inspired.

  • Beth

Great interview – thanks so much for all of the info, it will make listening to the album that much more enjoyable. Hoping to see Doug Burr come to Santa Barbara, CA to play soon! We have great venues here…

  • Philip

Hey, it’s me again. How about “Things in Life” by Dennis Brown? Classic Reggae. “All I Want” by Bobby McFerrin in the album Simple Pleasures for something more vocal.

An album to check out (heard it reviewed on NPR) is “Yes We Can: Songs About Leaving Africa”; a compilation rap/hip-hop album that features all African artists.

    Thanks Paul

    love this show!

  • Philip

oops, wrong blog! how embarrassing. Meant to do the Paul Slavens show

Is there anyway to download this first podcast??
