Meet up: Two of the most interesting groups I’ve visited with in the last few months are teaming up. Pecha Kucha Night, is a rapid-fire gathering where presenters share 20 images of their work and talk about each image for 20 seconds.  Spark Club is an attempt to create purpose-driven networking among artists, leaders and social entrepreneurs.  The two groups join forces on May 13 at Sons of Hermann (free, but reserve your tix and consider a small donation). Almost all of the presenters  so far – read about them here –  have backgrounds that include the arts and some kind of community development or interaction. Where will it all go? My guess is it ends with a Big Bang.

Get Out: It’s festival time, and the rush is on to enjoy the outdoors before the heat hits.  If you missed Cindy’s video take on Prairie Fest last weekend in Fort Worth here tis.  The Observer brings us some nice shots from Denton Jazz Fest, which had a record 200,000 folks show up. Next up is Mayfest.

Wrapping Up:  Second Thought’s Lobster Alice Tony Bennett at the Meyerson…Pink Martini at Bass Hall….Two-thirds of the Dixie Chicks have a new side project.
