Laurie Evans, director of the Dallas Public Library, is stepping down June 2. Evans has overseen a lot of change and expansion at the DPL, including the renovation of two branches, four new ones, six replacements, a second bookmobile, two ‘co-located’ libraries with DISD and the creation of Bookmarks, the children’s library mini-outpost at NorthPark.  Corrine Hill will serve as interim director.

And Greg Davis, general manager of WRR Classical 101.1, will retire May 6. Davis was appointed as GM in 1994 and his tenure at the city-owned station has been marked by some controversy both civic (the city keeps considering selling WRR) and personal (allegations he was promoted over more qualified people  — which led to a discrimination lawsuit against the city). But one of the reasons the city keeps considering selling the station (other than Dallas’ own budget problems) is that Davis has helped make the station consistently successful enough to attract  buyers. David Fisher, currently the assistant director of the Office of Cultural Affairs, will fill in as interim director.
