“Break Apart” by Anna Thomas
The first song I ever heard by singer-songwriter Anna Thomas, “Break Apart,” was written and recorded when she was twelve. She wrote it and performed it–at the age of twelve. She has the voice of a seasoned professional, and her lyrics are rich in story lines and much more mature than her very young age. Anna’s passion is writing musicals, and most of her original songs are written for characters she’s created. This past March 1st, Anna turned 14 and she’s writing and performing better than ever.
“Little Red” by Anna Thomas
Anna writes, rehearses and continues to grow as an artist under the NAMS (Neighborhood Arts and Music School) roof in Frisco. She performs with NAMS instructor, multi-instrumentalist and University of North Texas graduate Matt Gaskins, who started out as her music instructor. The partnership quickly evolved into co-writing and collaborating on songs and performing together at local wine cafes and coffee houses.
I haven’t been this excited about an up-and-coming artist since the first time I saw Sarah Jaffe perform at the Tom Prejean Open Mic night nearly eight years ago.
You can catch this musical duo live on Friday nights at Lone Star Wine Cellars in McKinney.
Please enjoy another Art&Seek Artist Studio Tour with Anna Thomas and Matt Gaskins. We’re adding them to our Art&Seek Artist Studio Tour.
